March 9, 2009 - Sanger miRBase microRNA Sequence Database Updated to Release 13.0The Sanger Institute released the latest version (13.0) of their miRBase sequence database for known miRNAs today ( http://microrna.sanger.ac.uk/sequences/) The number of verified microRNAs has been increased from 8619 to 9539 hairpin precursor miRNAs expressing 9169 mature miRNA products. (miRBase release summary). With the addition of 1004 new mature miRNA products, the Sanger microRNA Sequence Database (miRBase) has announced a significant update. Many sequences have been updated or revised. Mammalian species with significant numbers of mature sequence additions include: Human (19), Mouse (62), Cow (209), Pig (9), and Dog (112). Plant species with new sequences include: Rice, Maize, Soybean, Mustard, Moss, M. truncatula. Additionally, there are 18 new species with miRNAs listed for the first time including 14 animals, 2 plants, and 2 viruses. This updated probe content is currently available on all of our standard or custom microRNA microarrays. About miRBase More information about LC Sciences is available at http://www.lcsciences.com.
